What is covered?
Your dwelling structure is the primary risk covered on the policy to the limit you choose. Personal contents and detached structures, like a garage or shed, receive some coverage automatically based on the coverage for your dwelling, and higher limits are available if needed. When is my policy effective?
The inception date of the policy will be the date requested on the application or the date your premium is processed by us, whichever is later. After we receive your application for coverage it will be evaluated to see if the property is acceptable. If approved by underwriting, payment can be submitted. No inception dates that are prior to the date of payment will be allowed. Benefits on the policy may be subject to an applicable waiting period shown in your insurance policy.
Is there a waiting period before coverage is in force?
Flood insurance benefits become available on the fifteenth day after the inception date of your policy. Earthquake coverage becomes available on the fifth day after policy inception. If you have had equivalent coverage in force for at least 15 days prior to the inception date of our policy, the waiting period is waived. The waiting period can also be waived if the policy is required by your mortgage lender.
Is the policy automatically renewed?
We will send a renewal quote/offer to the insured and any mortgagee(s) on the policy prior to expiration, and we must receive your premium by the due date to continue coverage. If no payment is received by the due date, coverage will cease. Underwriters reserve the right to terminate or non-renew coverage by giving reasonable notice as may be required by applicable regulations.
